Join us for a conversation with John Sullivan, former U.S. Ambassador to Russia and author of the award-winning and critically acclaimed memoir, Midnight in Moscow.


The recently published book details his tenure as head of the US Embassy from 2019-2022 when he faced the most challenging period in U-S Russia relations in generations as Putin launched an aggressive war against Ukraine.


Ambassador Sullivan’s career spans four decades in public service in prominent diplomatic and legal positions under five US presidents.

Frequently Asked Questions

After an introduction from the series moderator, there will be a 45 minute speaker presentation followed by a Q&A session with audience submitted questions.

No. The events are only available to in-person attendees.

Yes, a question card will be inserted in your program and collected by ushers during the presentation. Although time may be limited, many questions from the audience will be covered during the Q&A period.

Yes, all attendees who’ve submitted an email address will receive a survey.

No. Speaker contracts allow for dissemination of presentation for limited educational purposes only.

All sales are final. If you can’t attend a presentation, we encourage you to offer your tickets to a friend, neighbor or colleague to allow them to enjoy the Speakers Series in your place.
You may recommend topics or specific speakers for future events by contacting us via our website. In addition, the surveys distributed to attendees following each event request recommendations for future events.

Programs will be cancelled if the speaker is unable to travel to Cape Cod or if the Town of Barnstable experiences a severe Weather Emergency. For possible cancellations due to weather, please consult our website at capecodspeakers.org.

After deducting for expenses, the proceeds generated by Cape Cod Speaker Series ticket sales are donated to Cape Cod Community College and used to provide financial aid to students.

The Cape Cod Speaker Series, Inc. (CCSS) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization founded by local residents dedicated to bringing diverse voices, cultural opportunities and educational support to Cape Cod.


The CCSS hosts nationally recognized experts, inspiring thought leaders and prominent personalities to address challenging issues, share entertaining topics and stimulate conversation. Speakers offer their perspectives on a range of subjects from global affairs to the media, the environment, politics, history, science, the arts and culture. Through these programs we strive to build understanding and respect for differing points of view and experiences in our community.


After setting aside funds for future operations, any surplus generated by CCSS will go to providing financial aid to Cape Cod Community College students.
